Sharjah And Belgium Discuss Enhancing Economic, Cultural Cooperation
In a significant move to bolster international relations and cooperation, Sheikh Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, the Director of the Department of Government Relations (DGR) in Sharjah, welcomed Hadja Lahbib, Belgium’s Foreign Minister, at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah. This meeting marked a pivotal step towards enhancing the cultural, economic, and scientific ties between Sharjah and various Belgian cities.
The discussions between Sheikh Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi and Minister Hadja Lahbib focused on reinforcing collaborations across several key sectors. These sectors include science, technology, education, and healthcare, which are crucial for Sharjah's development journey. As part of her visit, Minister Lahbib embarked on a tour of the Sharjah Airport Free Zone. This tour provided her with insights into the operations of Belgian companies within the zone. She was briefed on business licensing procedures and learned about the incentives offered by the Authority to businesses operating in its free zones.
Additionally, Minister Lahbib's itinerary included visits to the Equestrian Club and the Sharjah Equine Hospital. At the hospital, she met Dr. Micky De Rieck, who has been honored with the title Knight in the Order of Leopold. This prestigious award is Belgium's highest decoration, recognizing individuals for their bravery and noble deeds that benefit the public.
The visit by Belgium’s Foreign Minister underscores the importance of international collaboration in fostering growth and development. It highlights Sharjah's commitment to expanding its global partnerships and enhancing its role in key sectors that are vital for its progress.
