The Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW) has opened registration for its 22nd edition. This award aims to recognise individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions in various volunteer fields. Applications are accepted from 1st November to 31st December 2024 via their website. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in 2025 after a thorough evaluation process.
Participants can compete in 11 distinct categories, each designed to honour different aspects of volunteerism. These include awards for creating volunteer opportunities, supporting volunteer initiatives, and recognising those with the highest volunteer hours. Categories also extend to government agencies, civil society organisations, and educational institutions.

Fatima Musa Al Belushi, Executive Director of SAVW, highlighted the award's role in promoting diversity and inclusiveness in volunteer efforts. She believes this encourages greater participation and innovation within the community. The award seeks to inspire more people to engage in meaningful volunteer work that benefits society.
Special Awards for Various Groups

For instance, Emirati students with the highest volunteer hours receive recognition through the "University Student Award." Similarly, school students across the UAE can earn the "Knight of Volunteer Work Award."
Leadership and Teamwork Recognition
The award also acknowledges leadership qualities through categories like "Best Young Leader of Volunteer Teams Award." This is given to young leaders who demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and motivate their teams towards excellence. Additionally, teams making a positive societal impact are recognised with the "Best Volunteer Team Award."
Dr. Jassim Mohammed Al Hammadi, Secretary General of SAVW, emphasised the importance of enhancing development programmes to align with Sharjah's volunteer work initiatives. He praised the executive management's efforts in updating the award's framework to meet sustainable community goals.
