Sharjah Arabic Academy Welcomes Taiwanese Delegation From National Chengchi University For Academic Collaboration

The Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah recently hosted a delegation from National Chengchi University in Chinese Taiwan. This official visit aimed to enhance academic and cultural ties between the two institutions, focusing on linguistic research and teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Amhamed Safi Al-Mustghanemi, Secretary-General of the academy, along with other members.

During the visit, Dr. Al-Mustghanemi emphasised the academy's dedication to promoting the Arabic language globally. He mentioned that under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the academy is committed to expanding international cooperation. This visit is seen as a crucial step in building knowledge bridges between the Arab world and East Asia through language and education.

Taiwanese Delegation Visits Sharjah Arabic Academy

The guests were given a tour of the academy's facilities, including its library. They were introduced to significant projects like the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language and ongoing research initiatives. Professor Eric Shen, leading the Taiwanese delegation, praised these efforts and expressed Chengchi University's eagerness to form educational partnerships with the academy.

Professor Shen also highlighted Chengchi University's interest in student and researcher exchanges, Arabic training programmes for non-native speakers, and collaboration in modern linguistic technologies. "We deeply appreciate the academy’s efforts," he stated, acknowledging its intellectual contributions to linguistic projects.

Dr. Yunus Cheng from Chengchi University expressed admiration for the high academic standards maintained by the academy for students learning Arabic as a second language. The delegation reviewed key initiatives aimed at advancing Arabic linguistics, particularly noting the significance of the Historical Dictionary project.

The visit concluded with discussions on future cooperation strategies. Both parties exchanged shields and commemorative gifts as a gesture of goodwill, followed by a group photo session to mark this collaborative effort.
