Sharjah Conference Aims To Shape Future Of Animation With Empowering Workshops And Talks
The Sharjah Animation Conference (SAC) is gearing up to enhance the creative landscape of the UAE and the broader region from 1st to 5th May at the Expo Centre Sharjah. This event, orchestrated by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), stands as a beacon for animation enthusiasts worldwide, offering a unique blend of workshops, panel discussions, and music concerts. SAC 2024 is poised to feature an impressive lineup of 71 speakers from 12 countries, engaging in 30 workshops, 20 panel discussions, 5 talks, and 5 music concerts, spotlighting the industry's vibrant facets.
One of the conference's highlights includes a masterclass by Junichi Hayama, a renowned artist and director known for his work on "Fist of the North Star" and the "One Piece" film. Hayama's masterclass is anticipated to offer deep insights into animation's artistry, attracting both enthusiasts and professionals. Additionally, SAC will showcase an exhibition by Aardman Animation, celebrated for its unique stop-motion animation style and beloved characters, providing a closer look at the studio's creative processes.
In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Disney's "The Lion King", SAC will present a special screening attended by Andreas Deja, a Disney Legend who contributed significantly to the film. This event promises to merge educational insight with entertainment, offering a comprehensive exploration of animation's rich history.
The Florence Pops Orchestra, under maestro Carlo Chiarotti, will also perform at SAC, adding a musical layer to the celebration of animation. Their performances are expected to contribute to making SAC an unforgettable experience for attendees.
Khoula Al Mujaini, Executive Director of SAC, emphasized the conference's role in fostering connections and sparking creativity among participants. "SAC 2024 promises to be a milestone event, embodying the spirit of creativity and collaboration," Al Mujaini stated. Pietro Pinetti, Artistic Director of SAC, echoed this sentiment, highlighting SAC's commitment to nurturing the future growth of animation in the Middle East through innovative and cross-cultural programs.
