Sharjah And American Universities Sign MoU To Strengthen Academic Ties
In a significant move towards fostering academic collaboration, the University of Sharjah (UOS) and the American University of Sharjah (AUS) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement, witnessed by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of UOS, alongside Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of AUS, sets the stage for a robust partnership aimed at enhancing educational and research opportunities.
The MoU was officially signed by Dr. Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, and Dr. Tod Laursen, Chancellor of the American University of Sharjah, during a ceremony at AUS. This partnership is poised to open new avenues for student and faculty exchange programs, thereby broadening research options and facilitating seamless student transfers at both bachelor's and master's levels.

Under this agreement, both universities commit to supporting cooperative supervision of graduate students, conducting joint research activities, and establishing dual academy programmes along with short-term specialised programmes. This initiative not only aims to bolster academic endeavours but also to enhance joint work in e-learning, consultation, curriculum development, and vocational training.
Moreover, the MoU encompasses organising joint workshops, conferences, and seminars to foster academic discourse and facilitate global knowledge exchange. It also focuses on sharing resources and institutional development to enhance the quality and abundance of resources available to both parties.
To ensure the successful implementation of the memorandum's outcomes, a steering committee will be established to oversee the process. Additionally, a joint institution will be formed to support the financing of any joint scientific activities between the two institutions.
This partnership underscores the commitment of both universities to promoting academic excellence, research innovation, and cultural understanding within and beyond the UAE borders. The ceremony concluded with H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi receiving a souvenir from Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, followed by group photos to commemorate this momentous event.
