Sharjah Airport To Boost Security With New Inspection Devices Contract

The Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) has entered into an agreement with Nuctech Middle East FZCO. This company is renowned for its expertise in designing and constructing independent security screening systems using cutting-edge technology and top-tier standards. The collaboration is part of the broader security inspection devices package within Sharjah Airport's new expansion project.

The contract was formalised on Monday at the airport administration building. Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of SAA, and Meng Qiang, General Manager of Nuctech, signed the agreement. Sheikh Faisal bin Saoud Al Qassimi, Director of SAA, along with several officials from both sides, were present at the signing ceremony.

The agreement includes the provision of 67 X-ray security inspection devices. These devices will be used to detect prohibited items and provide a comprehensive system for inspecting passengers, baggage, cargo, and waste. Additionally, they will screen employees and examine their belongings. Devices for inspecting prohibited or suspicious goods in customs inspection and cargo sectors are also part of the contract.

Ali Salim Al Midfa stated that SAA has a clear vision for implementing the Sharjah Airport expansion project. He mentioned that the goal is to increase the airport's capacity to 25 million passengers annually by the end of 2027. The expansion project comprises various packages, including the seventh package focused on designing and constructing an integrated system for independent security screening equipment.

Nuctech will supply screening devices as part of this seventh package using the latest global technologies. Security X-ray machines play a vital role in airport security procedures worldwide by detecting potential threats or prohibited materials. These advanced devices are essential for ensuring passenger safety and maintaining efficient airport operations.
