SFDA And Turkish Halal Accreditation Agency Establish Strategic Partnership To Boost Halal Sector
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) and the Turkish Halal Accreditation Agency (HAK) have formalised an agreement to boost cooperation in the halal sector. This memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed during the 11th World Halal Summit, which took place in Istanbul, Türkiye, from November 26 to 29.
The MoU aims to foster collaboration between the two entities by sharing expertise and research. It also includes organising joint training programs, seminars, and workshops. Additionally, both parties will coordinate their participation in international forums related to the halal industry.

This strategic partnership is part of SFDA’s broader initiative to expand its regional and global alliances. The goal is to solidify Saudi Arabia's position as a leader in the halal market while boosting the competitiveness of its national products internationally. This aligns with the objectives outlined in Saudi Vision 2030.
The signing event was attended by notable figures such as Dr. Saad bin Othman Alkasabi, who leads the Saudi delegation at the summit. Dr. Alkasabi is also the Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC).
Dr. Hisham Aljadhey, CEO of SFDA and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Halal Center, was present as well. The MoU was signed by Eng. Abdulaziz AlRushodi, CEO of the Saudi Halal Center, and Zafer Soylu, Chairman of HAK's Board of Directors.
This agreement represents a continuation of efforts by SFDA to enhance its international partnerships. By doing so, it aims to strengthen Saudi Arabia's influence in shaping global halal standards and practices.
