SFDA And SDAIA Sign Memorandum Of Understanding To Enhance Data And AI Utilization
Dr. Hisham Aljadhey, CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), hosted Dr. Abdullah Alghamdi, President of the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), at SFDA's Riyadh headquarters. Their discussions centred on strengthening collaboration by leveraging data and AI technologies to integrate their respective specializations effectively.
During the visit, Dr. Alghamdi was introduced to the SFDA’s Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (SAIL). This platform is dedicated to creating and implementing AI-driven technical solutions. He received insights into how AI technologies are being incorporated into SFDA's operations to enhance efficiency.

The two authorities agreed to establish national programs that focus on innovation and developing AI solutions. These initiatives aim to boost local content by adopting advanced technology, thereby supporting Saudi Arabia’s leadership in the global tech arena. They also plan to set standards for logistics data and AI capabilities.
Dr. Alghamdi explored the Interactive Center, which aligns with SFDA's fourth strategy objectives. This strategy focuses on improving regulatory systems, fostering research and innovation, and enhancing SFDA's leadership both regionally and internationally.
The visit concluded with a memorandum of understanding between SFDA and SDAIA. This agreement aims to explore cooperative avenues for implementing national initiatives that maximize data and AI benefits, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s position in this rapidly evolving field.
Both entities will work together to develop national competencies in AI governance within the food and drug sectors. They will also exchange expertise to further strengthen these areas, ensuring robust standards are maintained.
This collaboration highlights a commitment to advancing technological integration across sectors, ultimately benefiting Saudi Arabia's strategic goals in innovation and technology leadership globally.
