SFDA Affirms Commitment To Product Safety For Pilgrims During Hajj Season 1446 AH

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) is fully prepared to ensure the safety of food, medicine, and medical products for pilgrims during the 1446 AH Hajj season. This initiative is part of a comprehensive plan guided by government directives aimed at serving and safeguarding pilgrims.

To achieve this, the SFDA will oversee and inspect products at air, land, and sea entry points for pilgrims. Additionally, it will monitor food and pharmaceutical facilities as well as medical sites in Makkah and Madinah municipalities. Seasonal medical facilities linked to Hajj affairs offices will also be under scrutiny in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

The SFDA will closely examine products arriving via air freight from Hajj affairs offices at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah. This step is crucial to maintain high safety standards for all items entering through these major airports.

Field studies are part of the SFDA's initiatives during the Hajj season. These studies aim to ensure compliance with health requirements in food preparation kitchens. The authority collaborates with Makkah and Madinah municipalities to organise awareness workshops for staff in these kitchens, ensuring safe meals for pilgrims.

The SFDA is committed to educating pilgrims on food and drug safety through multilingual awareness messages and informational programs. These efforts are designed to provide essential knowledge about maintaining health during their pilgrimage.
