SFDA Organises Fourth Research Day Event To Highlight Regulatory Excellence And Scientific Innovation

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) recently held its fourth Research Day event in Riyadh. The gathering was attended by SFDA CEO, Dr. Hisham S. Aljadhey, along with other officials. This initiative is part of SFDA's strategic plan to promote a research-driven regulatory environment. The authority aims to establish itself as a global leader in public health through scientific principles.

Dr. Aljadhey opened the event by welcoming attendees and highlighting the importance of scientific research in regulatory decisions. He praised the authority's achievements in global regulatory excellence, attributing them to the dedication of its employees and commitment to advancing research and innovation. Dr. Aljadhey expressed satisfaction with the quality of submitted research papers, noting their improvement over previous editions.

SFDA Hosts Fourth Research Day Event

Dr. Aljadhey emphasized the need for these studies to have a regulatory impact and thanked participants from various authorities for their contributions. The SFDA CEO also honoured outstanding research papers that excelled in regulatory system development and emerging technology applications.

This year's event saw 139 research papers accepted, with 119 from SFDA researchers and 20 from external sources, including nine research, governmental, and health entities. Over four editions, more than 603 scientific posters have been presented.

The research covered fields relevant to SFDA's work, such as human and veterinary medicines, herbal products, food, pesticides, medical devices, supplies, and cosmetics. These contributions came from SFDA employees and researchers from institutions like King Faisal University and King Saud University.

Other contributors included King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC), King Abdulaziz University, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and King Abdullah Medical City.

Engaging Sessions and Workshops

The event featured dialogue sessions on biotechnology in food, medicine, and medical devices. Lectures on food safety were delivered by international and local experts alongside workshops dedicated to research topics.

An accompanying exhibition showcased participating research with summaries of each study provided for attendees' insights into the diverse range of topics covered during the event.

The SFDA's commitment to fostering a robust regulatory environment through scientific research was evident throughout this successful event. By encouraging collaboration among researchers from various institutions, the authority continues to enhance its role as a leader in public health regulation.
