SFDA's Comprehensive Inspection Rounds Lead To Seizure Of 225 Establishments In June
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) carried out 1,387 inspections on various establishments and products across the Kingdom in June 2024. These inspections led to the seizure of 225 violating establishments and 541 types of products.
In a joint effort with the Ministry of Commerce, SFDA discovered an unlicensed warehouse in Riyadh. This warehouse contained 150,000 cosmetic products and over 60 tons of expired food items. Additionally, materials suspected of being used to alter expiration dates were found.

The Riyadh warehouse was shut down, and all seized items were disposed of with the help of the Riyadh Municipality. The owners faced violations for storing food and cosmetics without a license, and legal actions are ongoing.
In Bahra Governorate, SFDA conducted field surveys that led to the discovery of a yard where medical devices returned from health complexes were stored, maintained, and resold randomly. All devices found were confiscated, and legal proceedings are underway with relevant authorities.
SFDA also received reports about unauthorized veterinary pharmaceutical manufacturing in Hafar Al-Batin Governorate. Inspections revealed a facility producing unregulated veterinary drugs. Approximately 10,000 veterinary drugs, 15,000 packaging labels, and manufacturing equipment were seized.
Moreover, inspectors found 10,000 unregistered veterinary drugs along with 6,538 feed additives and pesticides at the site. The individuals involved faced violations for practising veterinary pharmaceutical manufacturing without a license and storing these items without proper authorization. They have been referred to public prosecution for further legal action.
Ensuring Safety and Compliance
The SFDA's inspections aim to ensure the safety and quality of food, pharmaceutical, medical, cosmetic, and veterinary products. These efforts protect consumers from commercial fraud and counterfeit products while enhancing compliance with regulations under SFDA supervision.
SFDA stresses the importance of taking legal action against violators. They encourage individuals to report any observed violations by contacting their unified number (19999) or through the "Tameni" application.
The SFDA's proactive measures reflect their commitment to maintaining high standards in product safety and market integrity across Saudi Arabia.
