SFDA Chief Dr. Hisham S. Aljadhey Reviews Hajj Readiness And Food Safety Initiatives

Dr. Hisham S. Aljadhey, CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), recently visited the SFDA office in Makkah. His visit aimed to assess the operational plans for the 1446 Hajj and ensure all SFDA services are prepared to support a safe pilgrimage. Dr. Aljadhey emphasised the importance of safeguarding food and medicine supplies for pilgrims.

During his visit, Dr. Aljadhey praised the SFDA inspectors and monitors for their crucial roles at various sites and facilities. He highlighted that serving pilgrims is both an honour and a significant responsibility. The SFDA's initiatives include applying high regulatory standards and using modern technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor factories and warehouses, ensuring product quality during Hajj.

SFDA Reviews Hajj Readiness and Safety

The tour included a stop at the SFDA’s Hajj Operations Center in Makkah. Here, Dr. Aljadhey was briefed on interagency coordination, performance monitoring, and support for field inspection teams equipped with advanced tools such as body-worn cameras for documentation purposes.

Dr. Aljadhey also visited the SFDA's regulatory zone site within the holy sites, which serves as a primary base for deploying regulatory field teams. Staff demonstrated procedures for collecting food samples for laboratory verification and showcased advanced digital systems used in these processes.

At Mina's Emergency Hospital, Dr. Aljadhey met with Public Health Authority CEO Dr. Abdullah bin Rashoud Al-Algwizani. Their discussion focused on ongoing collaboration between their authorities to enhance pilgrim safety and health during Hajj.

The tour concluded at the National Health Emergency and Crisis Management Center, where Dr. Aljadhey learned about proactive efforts by government entities to ensure public health safety during Hajj. He stressed the center's vital role in public health and the need to strengthen regulatory integration among stakeholders.

Throughout his visits, SFDA teams demonstrated smart analytical tools and digital regulatory technologies as part of an interactive AI-powered oversight system. This system aims to enhance operational efficiency while contributing to SFDA's public health objectives during Hajj.
