SFDA Chief Inspects Makkah Food Facilities Ahead Of Hajj Season

The CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), Dr. Hisham bin Saad Aljadhey, recently conducted an inspection tour of several food factories and facilities in the Makkah region. This initiative aims to ensure these establishments are prepared to serve pilgrims during this year's Hajj season.

Dr. Aljadhey's tour focused on reviewing and verifying the compliance of these facilities with all technical requirements and specifications. The inspection also aimed to ensure the availability and quality of necessary supplies, check the operation mechanisms, and confirm that food products for pilgrims are safe and healthy.

The SFDA oversees and inspects products under its control, as well as food businesses in Makkah and Madinah. This is done in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure comprehensive oversight. The SFDA also raises awareness among workers in catering kitchens by providing general instructions and directions.

Extensive Field Surveys

Since the beginning of its work plan for this year’s Hajj season, the SFDA has conducted more than 3,700 visits to facilities under its control. Additionally, 478 visits were made to educate workers in catering kitchens on adhering to health requirements for food safety. The SFDA also carried out 306 field visits to enhance the safety of primary products and foodstuffs, along with 154 visits to medical headquarters.

Government Initiative for Pilgrim Services

This effort is part of the Kingdom’s government initiative to harness all capabilities and provide the best services to the guests of the Holy House of God. The SFDA plays a crucial role during the Hajj season 1445 H in ensuring the safety and quality of food, medicines, and medical devices.

The SFDA's comprehensive approach underscores its commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality for all products consumed by pilgrims. This initiative reflects the broader objectives of Saudi Arabia's government in facilitating a safe and fulfilling pilgrimage experience.
