SFD And AfDB Sign Pact To Enhance Sustainable Development Efforts In Africa
In a significant move towards fostering sustainable international development, the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) and the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) have entered into a strategic partnership. This collaboration was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, CEO of SFD, and Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the AfDB, at the SFD's headquarters in Riyadh.
The MoU outlines a shared vision to support developing countries in Africa by financing various development projects and programs. This agreement is set to enhance the exchange of knowledge and experiences between the two entities, advocating for effective co-financing strategies. It aims to support the attainment of sustainable development goals and maximize the impact of development initiatives across the continent.

One of the core objectives of this partnership is to strengthen cooperation in pursuit of ambitious goals that will expand vital opportunities in diverse beneficiary African nations. This initiative is expected to lead to global prosperity, particularly for the most impoverished and least developed communities by promoting social and economic growth through diverse opportunities.
The SFD has been a pivotal player in promoting sustainable development across developing countries since its inception in 1975. With a focus on improving living conditions, fostering knowledge development, capacity building, and creating job opportunities, the Fund has significantly contributed to global development efforts. To date, it has supported and financed over 800 projects and development programs with a total value exceeding $20 billion, impacting populations in more than 100 developing countries.
This collaboration between SFD and AfDB marks a critical step towards achieving shared and ambitious goals for sustainable development in Africa. By leveraging their resources and expertise, both institutions aim to create a lasting impact on the lives of millions of people across the continent.
