SEWA Enhances Electricity Network Across 15 Locations In Central Region To Improve Service Quality

The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) is actively enhancing the electricity network in the Central Region. This initiative involves upgrading both high- and low-voltage networks in over 15 areas, such as Al Dhaid, Mleiha, Al Madam, and Al Batayeh. These efforts reflect SEWA's dedication to improving infrastructure and service quality for residents.

Over recent months, SEWA has extended electrical cables by 81.7 kilometres as part of a broader plan to modernise infrastructure. Khalifa Mohammed Al Tunaiji, Director of SEWA’s Central Region Department, highlighted that these projects are ongoing. The upgrades aim to replace existing networks with more efficient cables that can handle greater loads, reducing energy loss and enhancing grid stability.

SEWA Upgrades Power Network in Central Region

In response to growing electricity demand due to urban and economic expansion, SEWA has connected power to over 45 projects across various sectors. These include residential, agricultural, industrial, and governmental areas. The Authority is also installing new substations in multiple locations as part of its strategic plan to improve service quality and ensure reliable electricity supply.

A significant aspect of SEWA's strategy involves replacing overhead power lines with underground cables throughout the Central Region. This vital project is currently underway. Among the key government projects recently connected to the electricity network are the Dairy Farm, Sharjah Safari, Friday Market, Wheat Farm, Jubail Market, University of Al Dhaid, Falconers Club, Wildlife Museum, Al Dhaid Mosque, Al Sahwa School, Nizwa School, among others.

Al Tunaiji emphasised that SEWA remains committed to continuously improving its services according to high technical standards. This commitment aligns with Sharjah’s vision of supporting infrastructure development and achieving sustainable growth while providing reliable and safe electricity services across all sectors.

SEWA's ongoing efforts demonstrate its dedication to meeting increasing electricity demands while ensuring efficient service delivery. By implementing these projects, SEWA aims to enhance infrastructure resilience and support the region's development goals effectively.
