SEWA Initiates Third Phase Of Home Rationalisation Project To Enhance Energy Efficiency

The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has launched the third phase of the Home Rationalisation Initiative. This effort, in partnership with the Social Services Department, aims to enhance homes with energy-efficient technologies. Under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, a budget of AED20 million has been allocated for this purpose.

Majid Al Shamsi, Director-General of Institutional Support at SEWA, explained that after receiving the third list from the Social Services Department, they reviewed it and contacted beneficiaries. The goal was to arrange visits for inspecting and installing rationalisation devices. The list includes 417 homes: 233 in Sharjah, 70 in Khorfakkan, 108 in Kalba, and 6 in the Central Region.

SEWA Launches Third Phase of Initiative

The initiative's first phase successfully equipped 3,916 homes with energy-saving devices. Over 83,000 tools were installed to conserve electricity and water. This included more than 60,000 devices for electricity savings and around 23,000 for water conservation. As a result, participating homes reduced lighting energy use by 40% and water usage by 63%.

In its second phase, SEWA upgraded 2,020 homes with over 50,000 devices aimed at saving electricity and water. Specifically, nearly 39,000 devices were installed to conserve electricity while about 11,500 tools focused on water conservation. These enhancements led to significant reductions: electricity usage dropped by 71% and water consumption decreased by 62% compared to previous levels.

Upon receiving the list of homes from the Social Services Department for the third phase, SEWA's team conducted thorough reviews before reaching out to beneficiaries. They scheduled visits to inspect homes and install necessary rationalisation devices. Qualified teams were then assigned to inventory and install these devices efficiently.

Overall, this initiative has introduced approximately 134,000 energy and water-saving devices across various homes. The comprehensive approach ensures that each home benefits from modern technologies designed to reduce utility consumption significantly.

This ongoing project reflects SEWA's commitment to promoting sustainable living through innovative solutions that benefit both residents and the environment.
