Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić Commends UAE's Visionary Leadership And Commitment To World Peace
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has highlighted the enduring friendship between Serbia and the UAE, noting their support during Serbia's challenging times. In an interview with Aletihad News Center, he praised President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his leadership and vision. Vučić emphasised the growing collaboration between the two nations, which is shaping a prosperous future.
Vučić expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, especially during crises. He shared that he often seeks advice from Sheikh Mohamed when uncertain about decisions. "Whenever I am not absolutely certain what to do, I give a call to my brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and I ask him for advice," said Vučić, acknowledging Sheikh Mohamed's wisdom and leadership.

The Serbian President discussed how the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement could enhance trade and investment between Serbia and the UAE. He noted that while cooperation in agriculture has begun, there is potential for more growth. The agreement aims to boost trade exchange levels significantly, which is crucial for both countries.
Vučić highlighted various areas of cooperation, including defence and energy sectors. With Masdar's presence in Serbia, he hopes more UAE companies will invest in renewable energy. "We see a lot of UAE companies as possible partners," he said, emphasising efforts to strengthen ties and build a real partnership for the future.
Discussing foreign direct investments by the UAE in Serbia, Vučić noted Serbia's economic growth rate of 3.9%, expected to rise to 4.3% next year according to IMF and World Bank forecasts. He attributed this growth partly to psychological impacts alongside economic benefits. The Belgrade Waterfront project serves as a symbol of progress.
Vučić recalled financial support from the UAE during past crises, including preferential loans during a financial crisis a decade ago and aid during COVID-19. "When we were facing a terrible financial crisis 10 years ago...the UAE helped us a lot financially," he stated.
Technology Partnerships
The Serbian leader discussed plans to leverage technology partnerships with the UAE for innovation and digital transformation. He acknowledged that while Serbia is making progress in modern technologies, it lags behind the UAE. This partnership offers an opportunity to learn from UAE's advancements in AI and other fields.
"We have discussed this several times and His Highness is a future-leaning, future-oriented person in this regard," Vučić said. He aims to bring UAE expertise to Serbia to collaborate with local experts on technological advancements.
Future Prospects
Looking ahead, Vučić identified key sectors for growth between Serbia and the UAE: AI, software, technology, industry automation, military-related industries, agriculture, and electronics. He believes these areas hold significant potential for collaboration.
The Serbian President envisions strengthening ties further with the UAE under Sheikh Mohamed's leadership. "We have a true friendship between our countries," he stated confidently about their relationship's future trajectory.
This enduring partnership has developed over many years and is crucial for both nations' prosperity. Vučić assured that efforts will continue to deepen these ties so that people in both countries understand their mutual benefits.
