Serbia Inaugurates First Smart Service Centre Inspired By UAE Government Model
The UAE and Serbia have opened the first Smart Government Service Centre in Belgrade. This centre is inspired by the UAE's model of comprehensive government services. It represents a strategic partnership between the two nations, focusing on modernising government operations, sharing experiences, and developing institutions.
The centre provides over 13 essential government services to more than 1,000 customers daily. It uses an integrated digital system that connects various government entities across Serbia. This modern approach aligns with community needs, aiming to enhance life quality and improve customer experiences.

A delegation from the UAE Government attended the inauguration ceremony. Key figures included Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Eng. Mohamed bin Taliah, Ahmed Hatem Barghash AlMenhali, and Fawzia Al Tayer Almarri. The centre is situated in the "Galerija Belgrade" complex, a significant urban development in Serbia.
Ana Brnabić, President of the National Assembly of Serbia, highlighted that this collaboration with the UAE marks a new approach to state-community relations. She praised the partnership for leading to this centre's opening as part of broader government modernisation efforts.
Lootah emphasised that this cooperation reflects both countries' leadership support and serves as an inspiring model of government relations based on expertise exchange. He stated that the UAE Government aims to share successful models globally to improve community lives.
Bin Taliah noted that the UAE's model in developing government services inspires many governments worldwide. The focus remains on providing efficient services that ensure high life quality through sustainable development and innovative national initiatives.
Expanding Bilateral Cooperation
During the inauguration activities, Dr. Đuro Macut, Prime Minister of Serbia, met with the UAE delegation to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation. They explored future collaboration areas and exchanged expertise in administration and e-government fields.
The UAE delegation also engaged with Serbian officials like Snezana Paunović, Petar Janjić, and Mihailo Jovanović to discuss expanding partnerships. These discussions aim to enhance cooperation between both governments further.
Agreement on Government Modernisation
In May 2022, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum witnessed the signing of a bilateral agreement between the UAE and Serbia focusing on 13 key areas. These include smart government services, digital economy, science innovation, capacity building, creative industries, education, AI, and more.
This partnership has facilitated over 1,000 workshops and trained more than 3,000 employees since its inception. The Government Experience Exchange Programme aims to create a global cooperation model for developing government work ecosystems amid rapid technological changes.
The programme identifies challenges facing governments due to technological advancements and shapes new approaches to address them effectively.
