Seoul Hosts The King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Translation Award Ceremony Highlighting Cultural Exchange
The King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Award for Translation's 11th session took place at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul. The event saw participation from Minister of Education Yousef Al-Benyan, Hankuk University's President Jeong-Woon Park, and notable academics. Al-Benyan highlighted the Kingdom's dedication to science and knowledge under King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030.
Hosting the award in Korea this year underscores the collaborative vision between Saudi Arabia and Korea. This partnership reflects shared values of human communication and cultural exchange. Al-Benyan emphasized that translation is a crucial bridge for understanding among people, fostering respect and openness toward diverse cultures.

Al-Benyan urged universities, research centers, and academic chairs to focus more on translation. He encouraged translating distinguished research from world languages into Arabic to enrich local scientific content. This effort supports the Kingdom’s transition toward a knowledge-based economy by enhancing its global presence.
Award Ceremony Highlights
During the ceremony's conclusion, winners across various categories were honoured. However, awards in two categories—natural sciences from Arabic into other languages and institutional contributions—were withheld. The nominated works did not meet the required standards set by the award committee.
