SEDD And UAEICP Collaborate On Single Window System To Enhance Licensing Procedures In Sharjah
The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (UAEICP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement aims to boost collaboration by implementing a "single window" system. This system is designed to simplify and enhance the process of issuing and renewing licenses for economic establishments in Sharjah.
The MoU focuses on advancing digital transformation in licensing transactions within Sharjah. It seeks to improve customer experiences by integrating government procedures into a unified digital framework. Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, SEDD Chairman, and Brigadier Arif Mohammed Al Shamsi, Executive Director of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Sharjah, signed the agreement.

Hamad Ali Abdulla Al Mahmoud highlighted that this MoU aligns with SEDD's commitment to developing government services. It reflects the leadership's vision to enhance the business environment and attract investments. The single window system will streamline procedures, fostering cooperation among government agencies, thereby improving service efficiency for the business community.
Brigadier Arif Mohammed Al Shamsi emphasized UAEICP's dedication to enhancing the country's business appeal. The authority aims to attract entrepreneurs and support economic establishments through its regulatory powers. This effort contributes to sustainable development and strengthens UAE's global competitiveness as an investment hub.
Al Shamsi noted that UAEICP offers proactive services to businesses, making the MoU with SEDD crucial. As a key local government body, SEDD oversees licensing for economic establishments in Sharjah. The agreement facilitates entry permits, initial approvals, establishment cards, and other shared services via the single window system.
Improving Business Environment
The collaboration between SEDD and UAEICP is expected to create an investment-friendly environment by sharing expertise and knowledge. This initiative aims to elevate commercial dealings and streamline business operations between both parties. By doing so, it supports national economic performance and enhances competitiveness across all sectors.
Al Shamsi also mentioned that UAEICP will assist SEDD in granting entry permits and initial approvals. They will issue establishment cards and provide other mutual services through the single window system. This approach ensures clients receive high-quality services swiftly by activating electronic links with SEDD.
The partnership between these entities underscores their shared goals of serving public interests while boosting national economic performance. By fostering an environment conducive to investment, they aim to enhance business operations in Sharjah effectively.
