Ferticlinic Fertility Conference In Abu Dhabi Concludes With Research Awards And International Participation
The 2nd International Ferticlinic Fertility & IVF Conference ended in Abu Dhabi after two days of scientific sessions, workshops, and panel discussions. The event gathered global fertility specialists, healthcare leaders, and policymakers, and further strengthened Abu Dhabi’s status as a major international centre for reproductive medicine, IVF technologies, medical education, and specialised reproductive healthcare in the wider Middle East region.
A key feature of the conference was a scientific research competition focused on impregnation and fertility technologies, designed to involve both clinicians and university students. The initiative encouraged early participation in research, promoted scientific thinking among youth, and aimed to support innovation in reproductive medicine, reflecting the conference’s focus on knowledge, education, and future generations in the UAE and beyond.

The competition drew strong interest from across the UAE’s academic and medical community, with submissions from Khalifa University, the University of Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah University, and several other higher education institutions. Winning projects received financial prizes to help support academic and research careers, underlining a commitment to preparing new scientists who can influence the development of fertility and IVF services in the coming years.
Results highlighted the depth of UAE-based research in infertility and assisted reproduction. Khalifa University secured first place, with the top award presented to Dr. Yassin Al Mahi. Second and third positions went to the University of Ras Al Khaimah, represented by Dr. Nigar Mehtiyeva and Dr. Arwa Ibrahim. Fourth place was jointly shared by researcher Dr. Binh Vu Thanh and Dr. Thanh Dao Huy.
{TABLE_1}Explaining the broader purpose of the competition, Conference President, Dr. Nagwan Ahmed, said, "The competition represents a core pillar of the International Ferticlinic Conference’s vision, which seeks to transform Abu Dhabi from an advanced treatment hub into a global platform for knowledge creation, scientific research, and innovation in fertility and reproductive medicine, by strengthening partnership between the healthcare sector and academic and research institutions."
Adding to this perspective, Dr. Elsamawal El Hakim, Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director of the Ferticlinic Group, stressed that backing young researchers is a long-term strategy. Dr. Elsamawal El Hakim noted that this approach aims to generate sustainable medical solutions and reinforce the UAE, especially Abu Dhabi, as a reference point for IVF technologies, higher medical training, and medical tourism.
Fertility & IVF conference scientific agenda and future directions
The 2nd IFFIC hosted more than 65 international speakers and attracted thousands of physicians, researchers, and sector stakeholders. Sessions addressed assisted reproductive technologies, fertility preservation, fetal medicine, genetics, and complex reproductive cases. Discussions also examined how artificial intelligence and advanced digital tools can support treatment decisions, improve IVF outcomes, increase patient safety, and encourage patient-centred models of fertility care.
Across two days, participants exchanged clinical experience and research findings, leading to a set of scientific recommendations. These called for continued international collaboration, wider research partnerships, and adoption of new medical technologies within clear ethical and regulatory frameworks. The recommendations aimed to support the long-term development of fertility care at regional and global levels, with Abu Dhabi positioned as a central meeting point.
