SEC Unveils Key Infrastructure Projects To Support Hajj Season In Makkah And Madinah

The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has undertaken crucial projects and investments in Makkah, Madinah, and the holy sites. These efforts, supervised by the Ministry of Energy, are part of preparations for the 1446 AH Hajj season. The goal is to ensure a reliable electricity supply to support various services for pilgrims.

Recently, SEC completed over 30 projects under its Makkah Electricity Department, with costs surpassing SAR516 million. In Madinah, more than 21 projects were finalised at a cost exceeding SAR84 million. These initiatives are part of SEC's ongoing efforts to enhance electrical infrastructure in these regions.

SEC's Infrastructure Projects for Hajj Season

Among this year's Hajj projects is the installation of gas-insulated transformers in Makkah's central area. This project is the first of its kind in both the Kingdom and the Middle East. It involved replacing oil-filled transformers with gas-insulated units at Haram 2 and Haram 3 stations to improve safety standards and grid reliability.

In Arafat and Mina, SEC executed several specialised projects for Kidana Development Company. These initiatives ensure stable electricity for pilgrim camps, costing over SAR1.98 billion. They included constructing the West Arafat central power transmission station (380 kV) and four other stations (110/13.8 kV) in Mina and Arafat.

Other significant projects involve connecting high-voltage stations to distribution networks in holy sites. Cables extend 645 km at a cost of SAR282 million. Investments also covered reinforcing and replacing electrical networks at SAR98 million, along with fence construction costing over SAR6.2 million.

Maintenance and Infrastructure Enhancements

Maintenance work for stations, distribution cabinets, meter boxes, and terminal ends cost approximately SAR35 million. In Madinah, SEC implemented vital projects as part of a major cities enhancement program aimed at improving grid efficiency and reliability.

The construction of key stations enhances stability and meets growing power demand in the region. These projects highlight SEC's commitment to providing stable power to ensure pilgrims' comfort and safety while elevating service quality.

By strengthening electrical infrastructure in Makkah, Madinah, and holy sites, SEC reflects the Kingdom's dedication to offering a seamless experience for all pilgrims during Hajj.
