SEC Forms New Emergency And Crisis Management Team To Enhance Public Service In Sharjah
The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) held its regular meeting on Tuesday, led by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council. H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, also a Deputy Ruler and Deputy Chairman, attended the meeting at the Ruler's Office.
During this session, the Council discussed several topics related to overseeing government departments and agencies in Sharjah. They reviewed key development plans aimed at enhancing service quality across the emirate. These discussions align with His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi's vision for improving operational efficiency within government bodies.
A new plan has been crafted to boost the effectiveness of government agencies by granting more authority to branch managers and staff. This initiative aims to improve public service quality and ensure timely responses to customer needs, ultimately raising satisfaction levels among residents.
The plan includes a comprehensive development programme for government employees, featuring training workshops for branch managers and staff across various agencies. The objective is to provide a full range of services tailored to each city's unique community needs, ensuring prompt and effective responses to citizen demands.
The Council has decided to revise a previous resolution from 2011 concerning the team responsible for managing emergencies, crises, and disasters in Sharjah. The updated decision appoints the Chief of Sharjah Police as the leader of this team, which will include senior members from key local and federal government agencies.
This change aims to enhance preparedness and response strategies by establishing unified procedures, plans, and practice drills throughout the emirate. The goal is to ensure readiness and organisation in addressing various challenges effectively.
Road Safety Initiatives
The Council reviewed a report detailing the seizure of illegal and unlicensed motorcycles, bicycles, and electric bikes in Sharjah. From early 2025 until August this year, authorities have confiscated 19,102 vehicles as part of efforts to improve road safety for all users.
Additionally, feedback from the Sharjah International Airport Authority regarding suggestions made by the Sharjah Consultative Council was examined. The SEC emphasised adopting these recommendations to enhance airport services, support growth, and better meet community needs.
The SEC remains committed to advancing service quality in Sharjah through strategic planning and collaboration with various stakeholders. By focusing on efficiency improvements and safety measures, they aim to foster a more responsive and organised environment for residents.
