Yemeni Capacity Building Workshop Strengthens Institutional Capabilities In Riyadh
The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen is holding a three-day capacity-building workshop in Riyadh. The workshop aims to strengthen Yemeni institutional capacities in finance and border management. It is organised with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
The programme includes 10 expert-led sessions on zakat administration, tax procedures and customs work. It also covers developing infrastructure at border crossings to support smoother trade. Participants come from the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, alongside Yemeni planning, finance, tax and customs officials.

This capacity-building workshop forms part of wider Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen efforts in Yemen. The programme seeks to enhance institutional and technical capacities while upgrading expertise in key financial and economic sectors. These activities support a more sustainable development ecosystem that can respond to Yemen’s long-term needs.
The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen has launched several projects to build institutional, technical and community skills. These initiatives help Yemeni government bodies identify priorities, evaluate existing capabilities and perform essential functions. They also support ministries and authorities in adjusting to changing conditions and improving service delivery for the Yemeni population.
The current workshop extends earlier capacity-building work by the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen. In mid-2021, the programme started a comprehensive initiative to strengthen Yemen’s ministries of planning and international cooperation and finance. Another workshop in November 2022 focused on Yemeni institutional capacities, bringing together eight international organisations and United Nations bodies. Information about these efforts was recorded at 21:26 local time, 18:26 GMT.
