SDRPY And Yemeni Government Sign Two Key Development Agreements To Enhance Economic Stability

The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) and the Yemeni government have signed two development agreements and a cooperation memorandum. These initiatives aim to bolster Yemen's economic stability, enhance basic services, and strengthen institutional capacity. This reflects Saudi Arabia's ongoing commitment to supporting Yemen's people.

One agreement focuses on addressing Yemen's budget deficit, aligning with the government's priorities to tackle urgent economic challenges. This support is intended to establish a foundation for economic, financial, and monetary stability in Yemen. Another agreement involves supplying petroleum derivatives to power plants across various governorates.

The petroleum supply agreement aims to improve service delivery by increasing electricity operating hours. It also seeks to reduce the financial burden on the Central Bank of Yemen by eliminating the need for fuel procurement in hard currency from international markets. This initiative is expected to positively impact living conditions and enhance economic stability.

A memorandum of cooperation was also signed between SDRPY and Yemen’s Ministry of Interior. This aims to support the ministry in building technical and institutional capacities while facilitating knowledge exchange with Saudi agencies. The goal is to improve institutional performance and strengthen infrastructure.

This cooperation highlights Saudi Arabia's steadfast support for Yemen across multiple vital sectors. It contributes to developing government institutions, promoting economic recovery, and enhancing essential services. The collaboration underscores the deep fraternal relations between both countries.

The SDRPY has implemented 265 development projects across eight key sectors: education, health, water, energy, transportation, agriculture and fisheries, government capacity building, and comprehensive development programs. These initiatives cover various Yemeni governorates.

These agreements reflect Saudi Arabia's leading role in advancing development and stability in Yemen. By supporting essential sectors, they aim to foster economic recovery and improve living standards for the Yemeni people.
