SDRPY Advances Yemen Development With Nine Projects Via Social Fund For Development

The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen has signed a new agreement to carry out nine development projects with the Social Fund for Development. The package targets key health and education needs in several Yemeni governorates and supports the continued work of Yemeni state institutions.

The nine projects were announced one week earlier as part of a wider group of vital initiatives. They are designed to strengthen services for the Yemeni population and to back public institutions that provide daily healthcare and education across different regions in Yemen.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen by General Supervisor Mohammed Al Jaber. Executive Director Hossam Qaid represented the Social Fund for Development. The signing took place in the presence of three Yemeni government officials from health, education, and planning ministries.

Attending the ceremony were Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qassem Mohammed Bahaibah, Minister of Education Tareq bin Salem Al Akbari, and Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Nizar Basuhaib. Their participation highlighted the link between the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen projects and official Yemeni development plans.

The agreement covers four health projects located in Lahj, Taiz, and Al-Dhale governorates. These include construction of two rural hospitals in Taiz’s Al-Mawasit district and in Al-Dhale, plus a maternity and childhood centre and a specialised obstetric emergency centre in Ras Al-Ara in Lahj Governorate.

Five education projects are also included, focusing on new model schools in Marib, Lahj, Al-Dhale, Shabwah, and Abyan. The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen plans to equip the schools with science and computer laboratories, sports facilities, and administrative spaces to provide a more complete learning environment.
