SDRPY Conducts Important Bilateral Meetings At World Bank And IMF 2025 Annual Meetings
The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) engaged in several bilateral discussions during the 2025 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C. These meetings aimed to bolster partnerships and cooperation efforts in Yemen.
Eng. Hassan Al-Attas, Assistant General Supervisor of SDRPY, led the delegation. They met with Fadia Saadah, Regional Director for Human Development at WBG for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan Region. The focus was on reviewing development initiatives in Yemen and exploring ways to enhance collaboration.

Another significant meeting involved Laura Frigenti, CEO of the Global Partnership for Education. Discussions centered on enhancing joint efforts to support Yemen's education sector. The SDRPY highlighted its 56 educational projects and initiatives, which include building model schools, developing universities, establishing colleges and institutes, creating laboratories, and implementing capacity-building programs for educational staff.
These educational initiatives aim to improve education quality and expand learning opportunities across various governorates in Yemen. The SDRPY's involvement in these annual meetings underscores its commitment to fostering partnerships that support Yemen’s development process.
The SDRPY has implemented 265 development projects across eight key sectors in different Yemeni governorates. This includes collaborations with local, regional, and international partners like the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
A notable project is the Lifeline Project with WBG. This initiative exemplifies effective international development cooperation and highlights the strong partnership between WBG and SDRPY in promoting sustainable development efforts in Yemen.
The SDRPY's participation in these meetings reflects its ongoing dedication to strengthening cooperation and partnerships that support Yemen's development journey.
