SDRPY Enhances Yemen's Sports Infrastructure To Expand Youth Opportunities
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia actively supports youth and sports in Yemen through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY). This commitment includes rehabilitating sports facilities, building stadiums, sponsoring tournaments, and providing technical support. These efforts aim to empower Yemeni youth and contribute to a promising future for upcoming generations.
SDRPY is dedicated to implementing sports projects that meet global standards, enhancing youth skills and ambitions. A significant initiative involves constructing FIFA-standard stadiums for clubs like Al-Jazira, Al-Rawdah, and Al-Menaa. These facilities offer young athletes high-quality environments to train and compete at elite levels, inspiring them towards excellence.

A major focus of SDRPY is developing sports skills among children and adolescents. The program has built over 30 basketball and volleyball courts in model schools across various Yemeni regions. These facilities encourage physical fitness, instill healthy habits, and nurture athletic abilities from an early age, fostering a generation rooted in sportsmanship.
Beyond infrastructure development, SDRPY organizes numerous sports tournaments. These events provide young athletes with opportunities to compete and showcase their talents. The program also aims to revive local sports activities by rehabilitating venues like the Ali Asad Muthanna Sports Hall in Aden, which had been inactive for a long time.
In June 2020, SDRPY signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Saudi Ministry of Sport to further support athletics across Yemen. This collaboration strengthens sports cooperation between the two entities. Additionally, SDRPY celebrated the Yemeni U-17 national team's victory in the West Asian Football Championship as a gesture of encouragement and recognition.
Through 264 projects and initiatives, SDRPY has supported key sectors across various Yemeni governorates. These sectors include education, health, water, energy, transportation, agriculture and fisheries, capacity building for the Yemeni government, and developmental programs.
The rehabilitation of the Ali Asad Muthanna Sports Hall rejuvenated Aden's sports scene. It provided youth with a renewed space to enhance their skills and engage in physical activity. This initiative highlights SDRPY's commitment to reviving local sports activities.
SDRPY's comprehensive approach extends beyond just building facilities; it encompasses organizing tournaments that allow young athletes to demonstrate their capabilities. By doing so, the program not only supports infrastructure but also nurtures talent development among Yemeni youth.
