SDAIA Unveils New Speech Recognition Technologies At Global IEEE Event

The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) is actively participating in the 2024 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. This event, held from August 31 to September 5 in Greece, attracts significant international attention from major technology companies and AI experts.

During the conference, SDAIA addressed the topic of code-switching within sentences (CS), a prevalent phenomenon in spoken languages. This issue poses a considerable challenge for Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) systems. The presentation highlighted the complexities of Arabic dialects and the scarcity of suitable data for studying comparative linguistic phenomena.

SDAIA's presentation focused on leveraging advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance CS-ASR systems. By generating text data that includes code-switching between Arabic and English, they aim to improve these systems' performance.

SDAIA has developed a Voice system using Saudi expertise, which allows speech-to-text conversion in Modern Standard Arabic and various Arabic dialects. This system can be utilised for automating meeting transcriptions, developing chatbots, and building interactive voice systems.

The International Conference on Speech Processing Technologies is one of the leading global events in acoustic technologies. SDAIA’s participation underscores its pioneering role in this field with its innovative Voice system.
