Saudi Data Authority Utilizes AI For Environmental Goals, Aligning With Vision 2030

The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) is at the forefront of integrating smart solutions across various developmental sectors within the Kingdom, utilizing the potential of data and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. A significant milestone in SDAIA's journey is the establishment of the Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence in Environment, Water, and Agriculture. It utilizes historical data to construct predictive algorithms aimed at addressing environmental challenges. This program collaborates closely with nature reserves and the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture to share preliminary AI algorithm solutions for sustainable resource exploitation.

In a parallel initiative, the Ministry of Energy has partnered with SDAIA to launch the Artificial Intelligence Center for Energy. This center seeks to leverage AI in supporting initiatives within the energy sector that contribute to Saudi Arabia's Green Initiative goals of reducing carbon emissions. Additionally, SDAIA is leveraging satellite imagery through the National Smart Cities Platform to monitor reforestation efforts and green areas in Riyadh. This initiative aims at providing visual representations of green spaces within Riyadh and Diriyah, developing indicators for neighborhoods with high green area indexes, and offering tools for monitoring green area levels on the National Smart Cities Platform.
