SDAIA Highlights Saudi Arabia's Technological Advancements For Urban Quality Of Life At Smart City Expo
The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) recently participated as a global partner at the Smart City Expo World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, Spain, from November 5-7. This event brought together over 600 speakers, including government officials, business leaders, and academics from more than 850 cities across 130 countries. The focus was on the role of emerging technologies in enhancing urban life within smart cities through digital services.
During a panel discussion, SDAIA Chief Executive Dr. Sattam Al-Subaiee discussed how advanced technologies are being used to develop infrastructure that provides digital services aimed at improving the quality of life for residents in smart cities. He highlighted that these technologies not only create jobs but also enhance healthcare, reduce energy usage, improve education, and elevate overall living standards.

Dr. Al-Subaiee emphasized SDAIA's commitment to digital transformation and AI technology application to keep up with urban changes. He mentioned several initiatives like the "Tawakkalna" app, the Smart C national platform for smart cities, and other platforms such as "DEEM," "Estishraf," "Ehsan," "Sawaher," the National Data Bank, and the Unified National Access platform.
In another panel discussion, Dr. Hotham Al-Twaijri, Assistant Director for Advanced Recognition Technologies and Digital Identity at SDAIA's National Information Center, spoke about digital identity applications' role in creating interconnected and secure smart cities. He highlighted SDAIA's implementation of the "Nafath" application which uses cutting-edge data and AI technologies to enable reliable digital identity in Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Al-Twaijri stressed that digital identity applications are crucial for building smart-city services. These applications significantly impact improving urban life quality by ensuring secure access to various digital services.
