GAIN Summit In Riyadh Concludes With Major Global AI Agreements

The third Global AI Summit (GAIN Summit), hosted by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), took place from September 10 to 12 at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh. The event gathered numerous experts and enthusiasts in AI technologies under the theme "Artificial Intelligence for the Good of Humanity."

SDAIA President Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi opened the summit with a keynote address, welcoming participants and stressing Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. He highlighted the leadership's dedication, led by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, to establish the Kingdom as a leader in AI.

Riyadh's GAIN Summit Ends with Key AI Deals

Throughout the summit, panel discussions and workshops featured experts from various sectors and global companies specializing in AI applications. These sessions revealed the latest advancements in AI, emphasizing their broad impacts on technology, geopolitics, politics, and legislation.

Several AI initiatives, programs, and products were introduced during the summit. Agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed to enhance AI applications and development within Saudi Arabia. These initiatives aim to align AI advancements with sustainable development goals and educational equality.

The summit concluded with a speech by National Information Center Director Dr. Esam bin Abdullah Al-Wagait. He noted the participation of 465 speakers from over 100 countries and discussed how the event explored future-shaping developments in AI.

Global Announcements

Dr. Al-Wagait also emphasized significant global announcements made during the summit. These included work by the United Nations High-Level Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence, a partnership between the UN International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Saudi Arabia to create a global framework for AI readiness, and the Riyadh Charter on Artificial Intelligence for the Islamic World issued by ICESCO in collaboration with OECD on the Observatory on Artificial Intelligence.

Important projects emerged during the summit, such as the Arabic Large Language Model (ALLaM), which aims to develop the best large Arabic language model globally. Additionally, cooperation with NVIDIA was announced to expand AI infrastructure using 5,000 graphics processing units.

Educational Integration

The summit also highlighted educational integration initiatives. Cooperation with the Ministry of Education was announced to incorporate the ALLaM Model into Saudi Arabia's education system. This initiative aims to provide support tools for teachers and leverage AI technology for self-learning.

The GAIN Summit showcased Saudi Arabia's commitment to becoming a global leader in artificial intelligence through strategic partnerships, innovative projects, and educational advancements.
