SDAIA Digitises Over Three Billion Transactions To Support Environmental Sustainability In Saudi Arabia
The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) is pivotal in advancing the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI). Through digital services and projects, SDAIA employs technology to boost environmental sustainability, cut waste, and support community-led environmental protection. These efforts underscore the importance of digital transformation in fostering a sustainable future.
By digitising over 3.3 billion transactions, the unified national access portal, Nafath, has significantly reduced paper usage. This initiative also eliminates about 300,000 daily car trips to service centres, thereby lowering fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Such measures highlight the role of technology in reducing environmental impact.

The Deem Government Cloud has consolidated 263 government data centres. This integration has led to energy savings surpassing 591 gigawatt-hours. The initiative demonstrates how centralising resources can contribute to energy efficiency and sustainability goals.
Tawakkalna, a national comprehensive application, serves over 33 million users by processing up to 100 million digital transactions daily. This high-efficiency system reduces reliance on paper-based processes and personal movement, enhancing the Kingdom's digital infrastructure's sustainability.
The Ehsan National Platform for Charitable Work plays a significant role in environmental conservation. It has funded 48 environmental projects and planted more than 261,000 trees with the help of 41 charitable organisations. The funding for these initiatives exceeds SAR5.8 million, showcasing how technology and charity can work together for environmental benefits.
SDAIA continues to spearhead national efforts in data and artificial intelligence development. By enhancing digital infrastructure and empowering entities with technological solutions, it supports Saudi Vision 2030 objectives. These efforts are crucial for achieving sustainable development within the Kingdom.
