SDAIA Marks Global First With ISO 42001 Certification For AI Excellence
The Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA) has earned the ISO 42001:2023 certification for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems, marking it as the first entity globally to achieve this. This certification acknowledges SDAIA's adherence to standards and practices in artificial intelligence management, showcasing Saudi Arabia's leadership in data and AI.
Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, President of SDAIA, highlighted that this accomplishment underscores the Kingdom's commitment to excellence in AI. He attributed SDAIA's success to the unwavering support from His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of SDAIA's Board of Directors. This backing has enabled SDAIA to become a national reference point for data and AI technologies.

Dr. Al-Ghamdi expressed pride in SDAIA's global accreditation, which confirms their relentless efforts in various aspects of AI systems. These include planning, resource management, governance of operations, risk management, impact analysis, balancing innovation with governance, legislative integration related to data management and IT, evaluation, and continuous system improvement.
He further elaborated that achieving this global accreditation involved applying numerous standards. These included policies related to AI, internal organization through implementation and operation of AI systems, resource management for AI systems, impact assessment of these systems, lifecycle governance of AI systems, administrative guidelines for developing and using AI systems, and managing relationships with stakeholders and customers.
Dr. Al-Ghamdi emphasized that the ISO 42001 standard is the world's first for an artificial intelligence management system. It complements other international accreditations SDAIA has received in data and AI fields. This highlights SDAIA's dedication to maintaining high standards of quality and institutional excellence across its operations.
He reiterated SDAIA's commitment to excelling in scientific and professional performance by applying best practices in data and AI technologies. This approach ensures they keep pace with evolving technologies that have become integral to all aspects of life, influencing national development and societal growth.
Vision 2030 Objectives
Dr. Al-Ghamdi noted that SDAIA focuses on achieving the objectives outlined in Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. This includes supporting government and private sectors with advanced digital infrastructure and transforming innovative ideas in AI into practical solutions that positively impact society. The aim is to position Saudi Arabia as a global hub for advanced technologies related to artificial intelligence.
