SCFHS Announces 71% Increase In Saudi Board Acceptance Across Specialties
The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) has revealed the outcomes of the second phase of the Saudi Board expansion project. Since 2021, admissions across all specialty programs have surged by 71%, aligning with the commission's strategic goals.
Admissions for medical and surgical specialties have risen by 54% since 2021. Dentistry saw a remarkable 112% increase, while pharmacy admissions grew by 58%. Medical science specialties experienced a notable 187% rise, and nursing saw an impressive 232% increase. These figures collectively contribute to a total increase of 71% in admission seats for all specialties.

The private sector's role in this growth has been substantial. Since 2021, the private sector's contribution to admission seats for medicine and surgery increased by 110%. Dentistry saw a 215% rise, and pharmacy admissions doubled, reflecting a strong partnership between SCFHS and private entities to develop health sector professionals.
SCFHS has also focused on geographic diversity, ensuring opportunities for individuals from various regions of Saudi Arabia to join board programs. The number of regions with training centers has expanded to 13. This includes significant increases in training seats across multiple regions.
For instance, Al-Baha saw a 135% increase in training seats, while Al-Jawf experienced an astounding 1,250% rise. Asir had a 69% increase, and the Eastern Region saw a 75% growth. Hail's training seats increased by an impressive 450%, and Jazan saw a rise of 165%. Madinah experienced a 74% increase, Makkah had a 42% rise, and Najran saw a growth of 108%. The Northern Borders region experienced a significant increase of 317%, Qassim had a rise of 158%, Riyadh saw a growth of 63%, and Tabuk experienced an increase of 102%.
These efforts highlight SCFHS's commitment to expanding access to health education across the Kingdom. By increasing training opportunities in diverse regions, SCFHS aims to develop skilled healthcare professionals nationwide.
The commission's strategic initiatives have led to substantial growth in both public and private sector contributions to health education. This collaborative approach ensures that more individuals can pursue careers in various health specialties, ultimately enhancing the overall healthcare system in Saudi Arabia.
