Sharjah Chamber Of Commerce Boosts Global Business Ties For Economic Growth
The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) reaffirmed its dedication to fostering collaboration with global enterprises, investors, and business leaders. This commitment was highlighted during the SCCI's ninth regular board meeting. The session, led by Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, included key figures such as Waleed AbdelRahman BuKhatir, Second Vice Chairman of the SCCI Board of Directors, and Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of the SCCI.
Also in attendance were Maryam Saif Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for the Support Services Sector at SCCI, and Abdulaziz Mohammed Shattaf, Assistant Director-General of the Communication and Business Sector at SCCI. Several officials from entities affiliated with the Sharjah Chamber were present as well.

During the meeting, the board reviewed significant initiatives and achievements from the first half of 2024. They discussed updates on ongoing projects like infrastructure developments in Al Nahda (formerly Industrial Area 1) and Industrial Areas 6 and 7. The board also examined outcomes from international engagements aimed at establishing cross-border economic partnerships.
Abdallah Sultan Al Owais noted that the Chamber had met most strategic goals set in its 2022-2024 strategy. These goals include supporting the business sector, promoting sustainable economic practices, and diversifying Sharjah's exports. The Chamber has also been instrumental in advancing infrastructure projects and expanding investment opportunities.
The Chamber's international efforts have been fruitful. It has developed a foreign trade exchange system and attracted significant investments. "As Sharjah strengthens its global economic ties, SCCI remains committed to this direction," said Al Owais. In the first half of this year alone, the Chamber signed eight agreements with local and international economic organisations.
Al Owais added that they organised a trade mission to India and numerous business forums to explore investment opportunities. These initiatives aim to foster partnerships between Sharjah's private sector and global markets.
Strategic Goals for 2024
Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi emphasised that enhancing Sharjah’s status as a premier regional investment destination is central to SCCI's 2024 strategy. The Chamber has focused on cooperation with specialised entities, diplomatic missions, and official delegations.
In the first half of 2024, SCCI held over 35 meetings with official, diplomatic, and trade delegations. Additionally, it organised more than ten meetings with sectoral working groups and business leaders to explore future growth opportunities.
Supporting Emirati Entrepreneurs
The Chamber has prioritised supporting Emirati entrepreneurs' participation in international events. A notable example is the "Emirati Goldsmiths" Platform's participation at the International Handicrafts Trade Fair (MIDA) in Florence, Italy.
SCCI also sought to strengthen its presence at international economic exhibitions by participating in twelve local conferences and forums. These efforts aim to bolster Sharjah’s export system further.
The meeting concluded with a review of various agenda items focusing on ongoing projects' progress. The board reiterated its commitment to enhancing cooperation with global partners while continuing to support local businesses through strategic initiatives.
