Saudia Group And Airbus Seal Historic Deal To Purchase 105 Aircraft

A delegation from Saudi Arabia and Germany, including diplomats, business leaders, media representatives, and officials from the Saudia Group, visited the Airbus manufacturing facility in Hamburg, Germany. This visit aligns with Saudi Arabia's ambitious aviation sector plans and represents the largest investment in the Saudia Group's history.

In May, the Saudia Group signed a historic agreement with Airbus to purchase 105 aircraft. This deal includes 54 A321neo aircraft for Saudia and 51 aircraft for Flyadeal, consisting of 12 A320neo and 39 A321neo aircraft. Once deliveries are complete, Saudia's fleet will be among the most modern globally.

Historic Saudia-Airbus Aircraft Deal

The agreement with Airbus is pivotal for Saudi Arabia's aviation sector. It supports the group's strategy of connecting the world to the Kingdom and aligns with Vision 2030 goals. Khaled bin Abdulqadir Tash, Saudia Group's chief marketing officer, highlighted its positive impact on tourism, entertainment, international sports events, conferences, and Hajj and Umrah sectors.

The deal also emphasizes local content enhancement and manufacturing capabilities. It enables Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries (SAEI) to conduct all types of maintenance. Additionally, Saudia Academy will train personnel to operate aircraft according to international standards.

This agreement strengthens economic cooperation between Saudi Arabia and European countries producing Airbus aircraft. It paves the way for new opportunities in economic collaboration and contributes to these countries' economies through increased investments and job creation.

The deal fosters innovation across various aviation industry sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, technology, and artificial intelligence (AI). It aims to contribute approximately 2.5 billion riyals to local content by involving small and medium-sized enterprises in Airbus' supply chain.
