Saudia Airlines Rolls Out Extensive Hajj Service For 1.2 Million Pilgrims
Saudia Airlines, the national carrier of Saudi Arabia, has officially announced its comprehensive operational plan for the upcoming Hajj season in 1445 AH. This strategic initiative is designed to facilitate the transportation of over 1.2 million pilgrims from across the globe, ensuring they receive top-notch service throughout their journey. The operation will span 74 days, starting from May 9, covering both arrival and departure phases of the Hajj season.
Utilizing its expansive fleet of more than 150 modern aircraft, Saudia Airlines aims to connect pilgrims from over 100 destinations spread across four continents. The airline has put in place specialized teams dedicated to various operational aspects such as performance monitoring, lounge operations, and coordination with different stakeholders to guarantee a smooth travel experience.

In preparation for any unforeseen events, Saudia has developed an emergency plan in collaboration with relevant authorities. This includes conducting virtual simulations at key airports in Jeddah and Madinah to ensure readiness. Pilgrims have the option to arrive through five domestic airports: Jeddah, Madinah, Riyadh, Dammam, and Yanbu. To support this massive influx, over 11,000 frontline employees and technicians will be stationed at these airports.
Continuing its innovative "Hajj without Luggage" service, Saudia plans to manage 270,000 bags and distribute 240,000 bottles of Zamzam water to the pilgrims. The airline is also a key participant in the Makkah Route Initiative, offering dedicated flights for 120,000 pilgrims to streamline their journey.
To cater to the diverse linguistic needs of its passengers, Saudia employs staff proficient in more than 30 languages. The airline's commitment to inclusivity extends to its dining options as well, with a variety of in-flight meals designed to meet different dietary requirements. Additionally, Saudia will announce Miqat timings onboard and provide passengers with access to informative programs on seatback screens. These programs include 300,000 minutes of content on ritual procedures and regulations, produced in cooperation with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
Saudia Airlines takes special care to accommodate pilgrims with disabilities by providing wheelchairs, medical stretchers, and oxygen equipment on all flights. In a bid to offer a seamless departure experience post-Hajj rituals, the airline also continues its luggage collection service directly from pilgrim residences.
This extensive operational plan by Saudia Airlines underscores its commitment to ensuring a comfortable and spiritually fulfilling Hajj journey for millions of pilgrims. By leveraging its vast resources and expertise, the airline aims to contribute significantly to the success of this sacred pilgrimage.
