SDRPY Enhances Heijat Al-Abed Road, Boosting Yemen's Connectivity

The rehabilitation of Heijat Al-Abed Road, a crucial route linking Taiz with other governorates, is advancing swiftly under the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY). This road is vital for the lives of 5 million Yemenis. The project aims to enhance its efficiency, implement safety measures, reduce accidents, and ease the daily challenges faced by commuters.

Rehabilitating this essential road will ensure safe traffic flow and facilitate the movement of people and goods, including essential supplies like food and medicine. Additionally, it will reduce costs and travel time. The project will also create immediate employment opportunities and benefit various sectors, including the economy, services, and education.

SDRPY Boosts Yemen Road Project

The project will tackle the daily hardships faced by road users, such as side road collapses, poor rain drainage channels, and deteriorating asphalt layers along significant sections of the nearly 9-kilometer road. With a significant elevation difference of 1,000 meters from the highest to the lowest point, the road lacks essential traffic safety elements like concrete barriers for vehicle protection and is prone to rockfalls.

Rehabilitating the rain drainage system and constructing new drainage channels are also essential to prevent water penetration into the road pavement layers. This project is part of 229 projects and initiatives implemented by SDRPY across various Yemeni governorates. These initiatives serve the Yemeni people in key sectors, including education, healthcare, water, energy, transportation, agriculture and fisheries, development and support of Yemeni government capacities, and developmental programs.

The SDRPY's efforts aim to improve infrastructure and provide essential services to enhance the quality of life for Yemenis. By addressing critical issues such as road safety and efficient transportation, these projects contribute significantly to the overall development of Yemen.
