Saudi Water Sector Confirms Full Operational Readiness For Hajj Season 1446H

As the Hajj season 1446H nears, Saudi Arabia's water sector has completed its preparations to ensure a seamless water supply for pilgrims. This comprehensive plan aims to provide reliable and efficient services through integrated technical and field operations. The efforts are coordinated under the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, ensuring uninterrupted service and optimal performance.

The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) has confirmed its readiness by aligning with an integrated plan covering the entire water value chain. This includes production, transmission, storage, distribution, and treatment. Strategic storage capacities have been secured to guarantee reliable services in Makkah, the holy sites, and the Grand Mosque.

Saudi Water Sector Ready for Hajj 1446H

Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley has directly supervised these efforts. His recent inspection of water projects in the holy sites underscores proactive planning. This includes completing 18 major projects in Makkah that expanded water networks, strategic storage, pumping stations, distribution systems, and treatment facilities.

Daily transmission capacity for desalinated water exceeds 1.2 million cubic meters. This highlights the readiness of production and transmission systems to meet daily peak demand. Transmission pipelines now stretch over 1,316 kilometers with pumping stations operating at 125% efficiency.

Water treatment plants have a combined capacity of around 750,000 cubic meters per day. This enhances resource management according to top environmental and health standards. Over 4,000 laboratory tests will be conducted daily to ensure water safety using advanced technologies and international best practices.

The high level of operational preparedness is supported by entities like the National Water Company and the Water Transmission and Technologies Company (WTCO). More than 2,000 national engineers and technicians are involved in these efforts.

Supporting Vision 2030

The Saline Water Conversion Corporation serves as SWA's transitional operational arm alongside other organisations like the Saudi Irrigation Organization. Their collective work advances Saudi Vision 2030 objectives by raising quality standards and meeting pilgrims' growing needs.

Daily water distribution surpasses 750,000 cubic meters. This ensures that pilgrims can perform their rituals in a safe environment with sustainable services. These efforts reflect inter-sectoral coordination at the highest operational standards.
