Saudi Water Forum Launches With Workshops On Sustainability And Innovation
The third Saudi Water Forum, under the esteemed patronage of Eng. Abdulrahman Alfadley, Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, officially commenced yesterday, marking a significant stride towards water sustainability in alignment with the Saudi Vision 2030 objectives. This pivotal event, themed "Water Sustainability... Our Responsibility", spans several days and features an array of scientific workshops aimed at fostering advancements in the water sector.
The forum's inaugural session was highlighted by a presentation on "Getting Started with MODFLOW for Groundwater Modeling" by a representative from the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Additionally, Saudi Aramco led two workshops focusing on "Water Conservation" and "Water Safety Plan", showcasing their commitment to sustainable water management practices.

Further contributing to the forum's agenda, the National Water Company outlined its future projects and investment opportunities. The presentation covered the company’s upcoming capital projects portfolio, long-term operation and maintenance contracts, and initiatives towards localizing industries within the water sector. This underscores the company's role in bolstering Saudi Arabia's water infrastructure and sustainability efforts.
The Saudi Irrigation Organization introduced "Innovative Techniques to Enhance Irrigation Efficiency and Agricultural Sustainability", demonstrating novel approaches to irrigation that could significantly benefit agricultural practices. Meanwhile, the Saline Water Conversion Corporation shed light on the importance of innovation and the challenges of investing in new technologies within the water sector.
The Saudi Water Partnership Company discussed its services and forthcoming projects, indicating a forward-looking approach to water management solutions. Workshops by UN organizations on "The Role of International Organizations in Developing the Water Sector", K-Water Corporation on "Water Treatment and Digital Solutions", and the Turkish Society for Infrastructure and Trenchless Technologies on "Non-Revenue Water (NRW) Management" further enriched the forum's diverse agenda.
