Saudi Vision 2030: Dr. Hala Altuwaijri Discusses Housing Rights And Sustainable Development Goals

Dr. Hala Altuwaijri, President of the Human Rights Commission (HRC), emphasised the critical nature of ensuring access to adequate housing. She stated that decent housing is a basic human right essential for family stability and individual dignity. This was discussed at the Real Estate Future Forum, which took place from January 27 to 29.

Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 reflects its dedication to human rights through a comprehensive development strategy. This approach aligns international standards with local values, particularly in transforming the housing sector. Innovative programs have been introduced to meet immediate needs while supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Altuwaijri highlighted that this rights-based strategy has yielded significant outcomes, especially in empowering women and promoting social inclusion. These efforts demonstrate Saudi Arabia's progress in advancing human rights alongside the SDGs.

The development approach prioritises enhancing life quality for all residents by adopting inclusive principles. These include ensuring accessibility for people with disabilities and creating safe environments for children, such as parks and pedestrian-friendly paths to schools.

Vision 2030 has introduced innovative financing methods to ensure housing accessibility for all citizens. Dr. Altuwaijri noted that adequate housing supports fundamental rights, benefiting children, people with disabilities, and the elderly.
