Saudi Official Addresses Escalating Palestine Situation At OIC Meeting
Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, represented Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah at the extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah on Wednesday. He highlighted Saudi Arabia's awareness of the escalating violence in Palestinian territories due to Israeli occupation forces' actions.
El-Khereiji condemned the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, former Palestinian Prime Minister, during his visit to Tehran. He stated that this act violates Iran's sovereignty and international law, posing a threat to regional peace and security. "The assassination of Ismail Haniyeh...constitutes a threat to regional peace and security," he said.

The Vice Minister expressed Saudi Arabia's deep concern over the increasing violations by Israeli forces. These actions have led to numerous civilian casualties in Gaza and the West Bank. The shortages of essential supplies like food, medicine, and fuel are exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
El-Khereiji urged the international community to hold Israeli occupation forces accountable for their actions. He stressed that these violations hinder peace efforts and called for immediate intervention to stop attacks against Palestinians. "The Kingdom calls on the international community...to hold the Israeli occupation forces fully responsible for these crimes," he emphasized.
He reiterated Saudi Arabia's condemnation of attacks on civilians and interference in state sovereignty. The Kingdom rejects any form of aggression against states or meddling in their internal affairs, adhering to international conventions and OIC principles.
Support for Palestinian Independence
The Vice Minister reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to supporting efforts aimed at ending the occupation of Palestinian territories. He advocated for a comprehensive solution that allows Palestinians to establish an independent state based on international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
El-Khereiji highlighted that Saudi Arabia stands firm on its position regarding the Palestinian cause. The Kingdom condemns Israeli attacks on civilians and stresses respect for state sovereignty as per international laws and OIC charters.
The meeting underscored Saudi Arabia's stance on regional stability and its call for global action against violations in Palestine. The Kingdom remains dedicated to advocating for Palestinian rights and seeking a peaceful resolution.
The Vice Minister concluded by urging effective measures from the international community to address these issues and support peace initiatives in Palestine.
