Saudi Vice Foreign Minister Advocates For Peace In Sudan At Paris Conference
Deputizing for the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Eng. Waleed bin AbdulKarim El-Khereiji, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, made a significant appearance at the Paris Conference on Sudan. The conference, which convened today in Paris, saw El-Khereiji articulate Saudi Arabia's commitment to fostering international and multilateral efforts aimed at securing sustainable peace and security in Sudan. This engagement underscores the Kingdom's dedication to supporting the resumption of the political process and mitigating the hardships faced by the Sudanese populace.
In his address, El-Khereiji highlighted the Kingdom's profound concern regarding the ongoing conflict in Sudan, which has led to considerable loss of life and property. The strife between conflicting factions has resulted in thousands of civilian casualties and displaced approximately 8.3 million individuals from their homes. Of these displaced persons, over 1.7 million have sought refuge in neighboring countries. The Vice Minister stressed that an internal political resolution that honors Sudan's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity is imperative to ending the crisis and alleviating the suffering of its people.

El-Khereiji further elaborated on the necessity of a ceasefire to protect the nation's resources and prevent the collapse of national institutions. He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's support for all regional and international endeavors aimed at resolving the Sudanese crisis. The Kingdom is keen on continuing its role as a sponsor of dialogue through the Jeddah platform, which seeks to harmonize the perspectives of Sudanese factions towards a ceasefire and reinstatement of political dialogue. This initiative is pivotal for achieving lasting peace and stability in Sudan.
