Saudi-US Roundtable Discusses Economic Ties And Knowledge Exchange In Aviation Sector
A significant Saudi-US Advanced Air Mobility Roundtable recently took place in Riyadh, focusing on strengthening economic ties within the air mobility sector. The event aimed to explore partnership opportunities and share expertise in air mobility and related services. This meeting aligns with the strategic goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to advance air mobility according to global standards.
The roundtable gathered executive officials from the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), 12 US companies involved in advanced air mobility operations in Saudi Arabia, and representatives from both government entities and the private sector. Participants included the Ministry of Investment, Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, Human Resources Development Fund, Advanced Electronics Company, Matarat Holding, and NEOM.

Key discussions at the roundtable included strategic programs aimed at advancing air mobility. These initiatives are designed to align with Saudi Vision 2030's objectives for the aviation sector. The transformation program focuses on infrastructure improvements, enhancing airport services, and expanding the airport network by leveraging Saudi Arabia's unique geographic position connecting three continents.
The meeting also reviewed integrated logistics zones and a roadmap for advanced air mobility. Several successful trials were highlighted, such as Saudi Arabia’s first vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) flight in NEOM in June 2023. Additionally, a successful air taxi trial was conducted during the Hajj season of 1445 AH.
Participants discussed GACA’s role in developing the civil aviation industry and explored investment opportunities within this sector. Emphasis was placed on key strategic programs that aim to enhance infrastructure and expand airport services across the Kingdom.
The roundtable further examined civil aviation sector initiatives in Saudi Arabia. These initiatives include available investment opportunities and potential collaborations. Discussions also covered localizing advanced air mobility manufacturing and developing human capital within this sector.
Overall, this high-level meeting underscored the importance of collaboration between Saudi Arabia and US companies to drive advancements in air mobility. By focusing on strategic programs, investment opportunities, and localization efforts, both nations aim to achieve significant progress in line with global standards.
