Saudi And Thai Foreign Ministers Co-Chair First Coordination Council Meeting To Enhance Bilateral Relations

The inaugural meeting of the Saudi-Thai Coordination Council was held in Bangkok, co-chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and Thailand's Minister of Foreign Affairs Maris Sangiampongsa. This gathering marks a significant step in strengthening ties between Saudi Arabia and Thailand, focusing on enhancing cooperation across various sectors to meet the aspirations of both nations' leaders and citizens.

The council aims to boost collaboration in politics, security, defense, energy, economy, investment, education, culture, tourism, and other shared interests. The meeting highlighted the importance of these areas for both countries. The co-chairs reviewed bilateral relations and stressed the need for ongoing joint efforts between the two friendly nations.

During the meeting, over 70 joint initiatives were discussed, covering diverse fields. The ministers expressed satisfaction with these outcomes and emphasized maintaining and advancing the council's work. They also highlighted the importance of collaboration among its committees to enhance its role as a framework for bilateral cooperation.

Implementing recommendations from committee heads with support from the council's general secretariat was deemed crucial. The ministers looked forward to the second council meeting scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia. This reflects their commitment to furthering cooperation between their countries.

At the end of the meeting, both ministers signed the minutes of this first session of the Saudi-Thai Coordination Council. Additionally, a cooperation program was signed between Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This agreement involves collaboration between Prince Saud Al-Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies and Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (DVIFA).

The signing of these agreements underscores a mutual commitment to fostering diplomatic relations through educational and cultural exchanges. Such initiatives are expected to strengthen ties further and promote understanding between Saudi Arabia and Thailand.
