Parliamentary Diplomacy Deepens As Saudi Shura Speaker Hosts Tajik House Speaker For Official Talks

Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan strengthened their parliamentary ties as Shura Council Speaker Dr. Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh held official talks in Riyadh with Speaker of the House of Representatives of Tajikistan Fayzali Idizoda, focusing on expanding cooperation across various fields and confirming the importance of coordinated parliamentary roles between the two countries.

During the session at the Shura Council headquarters, the two sides discussed existing cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan and explored further areas for development, especially within parliamentary work, while also reviewing several issues of mutual interest and stressing the importance of maintaining regular dialogue between their legislative bodies.

Parliamentary talks deepen Saudi Tajik ties

Dr. Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh emphasised that Saudi Vision 2030, led by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, aims to reinforce economic and social development, diversify national income sources, and modernise state institutions to support the Kingdom’s regional and international position.

The Shura Council speaker explained that the council contributes to this direction through its legislative work, including studying draft laws and regulations, and through its oversight functions, which cover monitoring the performance of government entities, issuing decisions that improve institutional efficiency, and ensuring that public policies serve the interests of the nation and citizens.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh welcomed Fayzali Idizoda and expressed satisfaction with the official visit, noting that such visits reflect the depth of relations and cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan and help broaden the exchange of experience and expertise in parliamentary affairs between the two councils.

Fayzali Idizoda expressed gratitude for the warm reception and generous hospitality received in the Kingdom, describing the visit as an important opportunity to enhance cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan and to build stronger parliamentary relations, while also reaffirming Tajikistan’s interest in sustained engagement with the Shura Council.

Idizoda stated that ties between Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan continue to grow, pointing out that the relationship is rooted in shared Islamic bonds and based on mutual respect and cooperation in ways that serve common interests, and noted that the visit seeks to deepen collaboration between the two councils and recognises the Kingdom’s support for Tajikistan in international organisations, while he wished Saudi Arabia and its people continued progress and prosperity.

Both delegations highlighted the role of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting Saudi Arabia Tajikistan cooperation and parliamentary relations, underlining that closer coordination between parliaments can reinforce broader bilateral ties, provide additional channels for consultation on international and regional issues, and complement governmental efforts to develop cooperation across political, economic, and social domains.
