Saudi Taekwondo Champion Donia Abu Taleb Receives Best Arab Achievement Award
Riyadh, SPA – In a prestigious ceremony held in Cairo, Donia Abu Taleb, a standout member of the Saudi National taekwondo team, was awarded the Best Arab Achievement Award. This accolade was presented by the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, acknowledging her historic qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Abu Taleb's achievement marks a significant milestone as she becomes the first Saudi player to secure direct qualification for the Olympics in taekwondo.
The award ceremony celebrated the accomplishments of 40 athletes from across the Arab world, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Tunisia, Jordan, Algeria, Qatar, and Morocco. These athletes were recognized for their exceptional contributions to sports, alongside notable businessmen from various Arab countries. The Saudi Taekwondo Federation was also honored at the event, receiving the Best Arab Federation award for its outstanding achievements both locally and internationally. This recognition was particularly focused on the federation's success in facilitating world champion Abu Taleb's qualification for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Mohammed Al-Shehri, the Executive Director of the Saudi Taekwondo Federation, accepted the award on behalf of the federation. The ceremony also paid tribute to Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, the Saudi Minister of Sports, presenting him with a gift in appreciation of his dedicated efforts to advance sports across all levels.
This recognition not only highlights individual excellence but also underscores the broader achievements of the Saudi sports community on an international stage.
