Saudi Student's Stuttering Aid App Achieves Top 3 In Apple Challenge
Apple Inc. has recently spotlighted an innovative application named "My Child," developed by Saudi student Jawaher Al-Enezi, as one of the top three applications in the Swift Student Challenge. This recognition comes from a competitive pool of 350 submissions spanning 35 countries. The announcement, made on Apple's official website, underscores the tech giant's commitment to fostering young talent worldwide.
Jawaher Al-Enezi's inspiration for "My Child" stems from her personal journey with stuttering, a challenge she faced following her grandfather's death at the age of five. With her father's unwavering support, Al-Enezi mastered techniques to manage her stutter, ultimately overcoming it. This app is a tribute to the encouragement she received, aiming to extend similar support to children and young adults grappling with stuttering. "I don't want them to ever feel like stuttering is a hurdle they can't overcome," Al-Enezi stated, emphasizing her vision for the app.

"My Child" offers an engaging narrative from the perspective of a child who stutters, incorporating characters modeled after Al-Enezi's father and grandfather. It includes exercises designed to help users with breathing regulation and preparation for scenarios requiring verbal communication, such as reading aloud in class. The app utilizes AVFAudio technology to replicate the sentence breakdown techniques that were pivotal in Al-Enezi's own progress.
Looking forward, Al-Enezi is determined to carve out a career in programming within Saudi Arabia. She plans to make "My Child" available on the App Store and continue creating applications that offer solutions to individuals facing challenges similar to her own.
