Saudi SFDA Emphasises Product Safety In Local Market Ahead Of Ramadan And Public-Private Partnerships
Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) CEO Hisham bin Saad Aljadhey said the authority is intensifying work to protect consumer health and product safety as Ramadan approaches, stressing that limiting non-compliant goods in Saudi markets remains a core priority for the organisation.
Aljadhey spoke during a meeting at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce with officials and representatives from food, pharmaceutical, and medical device companies, held in the presence of the chamber’s First Vice Chairman Raed Ibrahim Al-Mudaiheem, where participants discussed how to improve regulatory performance and support compliant investment.

The gathering formed part of a series of periodic engagements that the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) is organising across the Kingdom, designed to strengthen the investment climate in sectors under its supervision and give companies a clearer understanding of current and planned regulatory approaches.
The CEO highlighted that empowering the private sector, enforcing compliance, simplifying procedures, and encouraging innovation are strategic priorities for the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), adding that these elements are central to raising service levels and product standards in food, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices.
According to Aljadhey, closer public-private partnerships are vital for building a more efficient, high-quality, and sustainable ecosystem, while the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) expects that stronger collaboration will directly support public health and safety and help reinforce the Kingdom’s competitiveness at both regional and global levels.
Company representatives at the session with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) presented questions and proposals on regulatory procedures, focusing on ways to improve compliance inside their establishments, streamline interactions with the authority, and enhance cooperation as food safety requirements intensify during the Ramadan period.
